¡´English Book Description¡µ
This book is not about belief.
It is about awakening to and making use of the power already within you.
In this book, the author, Seon Master Daehaeng, speaks directly to the illness, fear, poverty, loneliness, and the anxiety of death that confront so many of us. Drawing from profound Buddhist insight while remaining grounded in everyday life, this work reveals that suffering is not fate, nor punishment, but the movement of accumulated karmic states of consciousness.
Each person is born carrying the record of past actions, like a document imprinted within the mind. Yet this record is not fixed. Through trust in one¡¯s fundamental mind, these karmic consciousnesses can be dissolved and redirected in positive directions.
The teachings in this book challenge dependency on external salvation, and point instead to a self-reliance rooted in clarity, responsibility, and compassion. Illness becomes a teacher, hardship a test, and fear an invitation to return to one¡¯s true self, the true center within.
At the heart of The Secret to Living Without Fear is a radical yet practical message: Everything is encompassed by, and responds to, your fundamental mind.
When all experiences, both the joyful as well as the painful, are entrusted to this source we all have, life becomes lighter, freer, and profoundly connected.
This is not a book to be merely read.
It is a book to be lived.

¡´About the Author¡µ
Seon Master Daehaeng (1927-2012):
Seon Master Daehaeng who was one of the most outstanding masters of modern Korean Buddhism realized her inherent nature early on and spent over ten years in the mountains to polish and complete what she had awakened.
Around the late 1950s, after finishing her mountain meditation practice, she stayed in a cave near Sangwonsa Temple on Chiaksan Mountain in Korea, where she helped countless people overcome their suffering.
In addition, to teach people how to resolve their own problems and become free from the cycle of life and death and of cause and effect, she established Hanmaum Seon Center in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, around 1972. For more than 40 years since then, she devoted herself to teaching the truth of the Buddhism and the way of relying upon one¡¯s own fundamental mind, and how to apply it in daily life. Currently, over 150 disciple sunims are dedicated to practice at the headquarters of Hanmaum Seonwon in Anyang and at 24 branches both domestically and abroad.

Publisher¡¯s Review: Practice in Daily Life Series Vol. 20
¡ºThe Secret to Living Without Fear¡»
25 Years of Companionship: The 20th Milestone
¡°A single thought can transform your destiny. Step forward with confidence, free from fear.¡±
¡°The mind is within us all, but only a few truly awaken its power.¡±
For over a quarter-century, the Practice in Daily Life series has provided solace and guidance to countless readers. Now, it reaches a new peak with its 20th volume: ¡ºThe Secret to Living Without Fear¡». This latest release is a powerful, heartfelt anthem from Seon Master Daehaeng, dedicated to everyone navigating the uncertainties and rapid changes of modern life.
Burning the ¡®Document of Suffering¡¯ to Reclaim Your Life
We often label pain and misfortune as an inescapable ¡°fate.¡± However, Seon Master Daehaeng teaches that the illnesses, poverty, loneliness, and fear of death we carry are merely records of accumulated consciousness-a ¡°Document of Suffering.¡±
This book serves as a profound reminder that this document is not fixed. By surrendering everything to your ¡°Fundamental Mind¡± (your true self) and staying awakened in every moment, you gain the power to burn away these thick records of past karma. This is not abstract theory; it is a practical guide written in the language of everyday life.
The Subtle Principle of ¡®One Mind¡¯: We Are All Connected
The Master emphasizes that the Buddha and sentient beings, the living and the dead, and ¡°self¡± and ¡°others¡± are fundamentally inseparable. Through five key pillars which include sharing the same mind, body, and life, working together as one, and freely giving and receiving whatever is needed, she illustrates our profound interconnectedness. Moving beyond the boundaries of organized religion, this teaching reveals that life itself is a spiritual practice, offering the insight needed to heal not only personal suffering but also social and national turmoil.
Suffering is Not Misfortune, But a ¡®Test¡¯ for Growth
When pain strikes, our first instinct is often to struggle against it. This book advises otherwise: do not be deceived by the suffering, but instead, place it within your Fundamental Mind. The moment you accept hardship as an opportunity for spiritual growth, the heavy burdens of life become light, and you attain true liberation.
This book is highly recommended for:
-Those struggling with anxiety and fear about the future.
-Those who wish to break free from repetitive cycles of bad luck and habitual thinking (Karmic states of consciousness).
-Anyone seeking their true self and the desire to become the master of their own life.
-Readers looking for an easy-to-understand introduction to Buddhist teachings in plain, everyday language.
¡ºThe Secret to Living Without Fear¡»is more than just a meditation manual; it is the ultimate roadmap for life. Discover the treasure within you and walk the path of a truly free person, unshaken by the storms of the world. |
