이 책은 영국의 디자인계 명문대학인 Architectural Association School of Architecture에서 기획 초대한 Asia Design Forum 참여를 계기로 출판되었으며, Forum이라는 제한된 시간 안에 발표할 수 있는 내용을 넘어서 한국디자인에 대한 정보가 보다 풍부하게 담고 있다. 이 책은 디자인 분야의 장르인 도시계획, 건축, 주택, 실내, 제품, 그래픽, 일러스트레이션, 패션 디자인을 통합적으로 보여주어, 각 디자인 장르의 경계를 넘는 총체적이고 유기적인 디자인의 본질을 생각하게 해준다. 특히, 각 디자인 분야에서 한국의 실험적 정신을 보여 주는 디자인들을 한 눈에 보여줌으로써, 현재 한국이 보유하고 있는 디자인 실력수준과 더불어 창의적 잠재성을 밝혀주고 있다. 이 책은 한국어판으로도 출판되었다. Written by Yeunsook Lee, director of the Institute of Millennium Environmental Design and Research at Yonsei University, "Korean Spirit in Creativity & Design" provides readers with a great deal of information regarding Korean "design" and the philosophy and the development of design. An integrated overview of various genres of design is presented, thus providing an opportunity for a comprehensive and systematic reflection on the essence of design in Korea. The genres include urban planning, architecture, house planning, interior design, product design, graphics, illustrations and fashion design. Originally published as a supplemental reference for Asia Design Forum, a special event organized by a distinguished British design college, Architecural Association School of Architecture, this book was intended to be a collective media resource, introducing Korean designs to the world, with the hope to stimulate collaboration between Korean designers and the international community. Yeunsook Lee has edited this book by choosing some of the most representative and experimental works by Korean designers in order to help readers - both specialists and the public alike - widen their knowledge of design.
